VOLUNTEER AT THE HELP CENTER

The Help Center in Bozeman is currently looking for interns and volunteers to serve as a Crisis Intervention and Referral Specialist. Duties include answering calls on the crisis lines, recording call details in database, and searching database for appropriate referrals as needed, all with the assistance of a trained crisis counselor available at all times. The Crisis Intervention and Referral Specialist will Intern/Volunteer for one 4-hour shift per week, for a total of approximately 12-16 hours per month, and commit to the program for at least nine months. Shifts are flexible, as the Help Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Intern/volunteer must be 18 years of age or older from any major, be a skilled listener and communicator (written and oral), committed to ongoing learning and personal growth, be non-judgemental, be able to handle tense moments, and adhere to strict confidentiality.

Summer and Fall 2009 training will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, 2009. This is a mandatory training prior to beginning the internship/volunteering.
